Jan 1, 2012 · If a book like Larry Daniel’s Shiloh: The Battle That Changed the Civil War is the more academic version of the 1862 battle, Winston Groom’s is the more readable, accessible version. I read Daniel’s book recently and attempted to move on in my chronological Civil War reading, but something was nagging at me. .
